The writer behind the byline ‘Our Special Correspondent’ is also the editor-in-chief of Jaffna Monitor.

Kaniyan Pungundran, Editor-in-Chief of JM, writes under a name drawn from Sangam literature—symbolizing truth, kinship, and fearless journalism. A Jaffna-born journalist with global experience, he treats journalism as dharma, not profession.

M. R. Narayan Swamy is a renowned Indian journalist and author known for his multi-dimensional reporting—from politics to insurgencies. Best known for his definitive works on the LTTE, he brings depth to South Asian affairs and conflict journalism.

Aruliniyan Mahalingam is a Sri Lankan journalist and author from Jaffna, known for incisive reporting on conflict, culture, and geopolitics across South and Southeast Asia.

N. Asokan, who writes under the name எழுத்துக்கினியவன் | eḻuttukkiṉiyavaṉ, is a technologist by profession and a literary bridge-builder by passion.

Dr. Gamini Goonetilleke, a Colombo-born surgeon trained in Manchester, was the first Sinhalese doctor in 12 years to enter LTTE-held Jaffna. A pioneer in medical documentation, he authored books merging surgical cases with Sri Lanka’s war and peace.

Prof. Mahesh Nirmalan, MD, FRCA, PhD, FFICM, is a senior academic at the University of Manchester, noted for his leadership in medical education, ethics, socially responsible research, and deep love for Tamil literature and ethos.

Dr. Shane Malitha Halpe is a Family Physician and Lecturer in Family Medicine. His work focuses on transforming primary care delivery through system innovation, health equity, and compassionate practice.
